Clarke attended both undergraduate studies at the University of Victoria and law school at the University of Saskatchewan on scholarship. He began his career practicing at a national law firm and one of Calgary’s foremost corporate litigation boutiques.
Clarke left “big law” to pursue his passion for human-scale law, which led him first to a criminal defence practice, during which time he never lost a trial, and ultimately to family law, which he enjoys immensely and which is now most of his practice.
Clarke believes in the power of diplomacy to cool tensions and create room for agreement, and prioritizes finding creative and cost-effective solutions for his clients where possible. He is also a capable litigator who is not afraid to stand up for his clients and firmly protect their interests, both during negotiation and in court if need be. Clarke specializes in high-conflict divorces and those involving a spouse with a private corporation or small business.
Outside of work, Clarke is an accomplished violinist, an avid reader of history, and an enthusiastic amateur powerlifter.
